We want to help you find a place at Helen Street where you can serve in a way that brings you the most joy and makes best use of your God-given talents.  Please place a check mark next to each item in the list below which best describes your willingness to serve in that area.  Your choices are as follows:

Evangelism

Reach out to visitors through letters, visits, and phone calls.

Welcome new members through letters, visits and phone calls.

Participate in a visitation program (one night a week on a regular basis)

Go door to door in the neighborhood to invite people to worship or events.

Conduct a Bible study in someone's home.

Maintain contact with deployed soldiers through letters or e-mail.

Serve as a greeter (arrive 15 minutes early, stand in the foyer & greet visitors).

 

Benevolence & Crisis Care

Do minor maintenance or home repairs for members in need.

Baby-sit for special needs during the week (e.g., doctor's appointments).

Assist with Harvesting for Hope (picking fruits/vegetables for the needy).

Provide transportation on Sundays (to worship).

Provide transportation through the week (for doctor's appointments).

 

Education

Teach an adult class

Teach a cradle roll class

Teach a pre-school class

Teach an elementry school class

Teach a junior / senior high school class

Serve as a teacher's assistant

Serve as children's assembly coordinator

Serve in the Training Room / nursery during 2nd service for 6-36 month olds

Organize the teacher's supply room (replenish as necessary)

Serve on the Vacation Bible School planning team

Serve as a Vacation Bible School Teacher

Set up classroom bulletin boards or door decorations

Prepare teaching materials for teachers (i.e., punch out materials for lessons)

 

Tech Ministry

Assist with audiovisual during services

Take photos for the member photo board

 

Care Groups

Serve as a Care Group leader (two Sunday evenings a month, April-Nov)

Serve as a substitute Care Group leader

Provide your home for Care Group meetings

 

Missions

Assist with downtown homeless ministry

Participate in "Meet the Neighbors" BBQ's (set-up, grill, clean-up)

Participate / read in FriendSpeak (Bible based English as 2nd language classes)

Participate in a short-term mission trip domestically (within the United States)

Participate in a short-term mission trip to Zimbabwe

Sponsor a child in Zimbabwe

Participate in Disaster Relief Effort in Nashville, TN

Coordinate fund raising campaigns (e.g., Potters Home for Children, AGAPE)

 

Fellowship

Prepare food for the Peak of the Week meals (Wed. evening fellowship meal)

Provide childcare during church events

Serve during church social events

Assist in set-up, take-down, and clean up for church special events

 

Building and Grounds

Provide routine maintenance and repairs on church facilities

Help with Spring/Fall clean-up

Help with church work days

Help with landscaping

 

Youth Ministry

Chaperone youth events

Assist with youth leadership training (teach speech, song leading, etc.)

Assist with Lads to Leaders and Leaderettes convention planning

Provide your home for youth devotionals or activites

 

Women's Ministry

Organize meals for members after illnesses, bereavement, or childbirth

Prepare meals for members after illnesses, bereavement, or childbirth

Host Ladies' Faith and Stuff (provide home for events or plan event)

Lead a devotional during a ladies event

Organize or help plan large ladies events (Ladies Day, Mother/Daughter Tea)

Organize wedding and baby showers

 

Worship

Lead prayer

Lead singing

Read Scripture

Lead in communion meditation

Serve communion

Prepare communion prior to service times

Deliver communion to shut-ins
